Girls are for STEM

Advancing Women in Mathematics Across the Americas (WIMSA), is an initiative at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Miami in collaboration with the Institute of the Mathematical Sciences of the Americas. WIMSA partners with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and with private high schools in the county, to provide advanced math classes for university credit to female high school juniors and seniors. Cohorts of students in each of the units of the program will be kept small to ensure personalized attention and individual mentorship. This initiative will encourage female high school students to pursue higher education in STEM fields, including mathematics.
